Anse-à-Pitres: This municipality of approximately 30,000 inhabitants is located on the banks of the Pédernales River, which forms the border between Haiti and the Dominican Republic. The local economy is based mainly on logging, the timber industry, and fishing.

This region is marked by poverty, and many children do not have access to quality education.

During the 2024-2025 school year, FOTIS took charge of the comprehensive education of 10 Haitian girls repatriated from the Dominican Republic and living in vulnerable situations. They were admitted to the Francesca Franchi Colline Don Bosco National Congregations ‘School in Anse-à-Pitres, Haiti, run by the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians. The financial grant awarded by FOTIS had a direct and beneficial impact on the beneficiaries’ school life and personal development. This grant facilitated their learning in a conducive environment and helped them to complete their schoolwork. It should be noted that through this project, the education, training, and living conditions of the beneficiaries have been sustainably improved. As a result, no dropouts were recorded throughout the school year. The 10 girls who received grants attended school regularly and achieved excellent academic results, progressing to the next grade. The conditions required for optimal learning were guaranteed, including the payment of annual tuition fees, the purchase of school supplies, and food assistance. In addition, they had the opportunity to participate in extracurricular activities during this period.

The school in Anse-à-Pîtres now offers an environment conducive to the social development of its students, paving the way for new opportunities in the future.
