In 2012 FOTIS agreed to sponsor 7 Ethiopian girls who were HIV positive orphans. They lived and were cared for in a home run by Artists for Charity, an Ethiopian/Swiss organization. The girls were motived to do well despite their difficult start in life. FOTIS provided them with secondary education in private schools in Addis Ababa. Now in 2023 these brave and intelligent girls have all graduated from different universities and have successful careers. They are grateful to FOTIS and its donors for their part in the success of their education.
My name is Tsigemariam from the Artist for Charity home where I grew up. I consider FOTIS the kindness people (true angels). You and our grandmom Jo have been like angels to me and my siblings.
I would like to express my deepest gratitude for all of the kindness that you’ve shown me. And I would like to reach out and thank you for showing me such kindness. It has meant more than words can express. Your support in my early childhood education has made such a positive impact. I’m so honored to let you know how grateful I am.
I was one of the top students in my Magic Carpet school. Because of the support of FOTIS and my grandmother Jo and many more, I have been able to achieve my dream. I hold a degree in textile engineering and another degree in accounting and finance.
I have been truly fortunate to have FOTIS and others in my life. Learning at one of the best private schools in Addis made me strong and smart. I am now able to speak up and stand up for myself.
I am not sure I can ever repay the FOTIS team for all their kindness. And Grandmom Jo has been a shining example for me. Thank you so much for everything you have done for me as well as my siblings.
Sincerely,Tsige
